Charles Lindbergh was an unknown 25 year old US Air Mail pilot when he flew solo from New York to Paris in 1927, winning the Orteig Prize. He immediately became world famous and the resulting rise in interest in aviation and air travel following his successful flight was know as the “Lindbergh boom”.
